Pi-Hole on duty

The Raspberry Pi 5 has come to the setup and Pi-Hole is on duty. So far it has been a little easier than I thought I would be. Ignore the cables. Cable management is not my specialty. I think it looks right at home with the CGU and next to the BeeStation. Next step getting it utilized more with other projects.
Next Project setting up a Windows 11 PC for Dockerized container projects. But before that I have to replace a failing/old external hard drive for backup.
Just wish I was more knowledgeable in the stuff. I want to begin to learn Hugo for static websites. If anyone has any good suggestions on where to start please let me know.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did getting things accomplished. One down and more to go.
Suggestions Wanted
Anybody have any suggestions on what I should move to from WordPress? Show I go to a service like Micro.blog, Write.as? Should I go back to Blogspot? I don't mind paying a reasonable price. But I also would like to be all inclusive if possible.
Also, any suggestions what I should put on my new Raspberry Pi 5 Pironman 5 build I made, besides Pi-Hole with Unbound?
Anyone know any good resources on Hugo? I was thinking of switching to a static site generator to. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thinking for the future
Hope everyone is doing great. I am sitting here on a Saturday getting little things done and over with and checked off my list. I am also thinking of future problems.
I have embarked on moving my email across many different emails to one centralized email address. Why for privacy and security. I am just fed up with Microsoft, Google and AOL/Yahoo and other scanning my email and what if they ever decide to kill the product or increase the prices even more than they have recently. My own domain is shared and there is always that security problem. So I have been moving almost everything to Proton mail as it is encrypted at rest and my domains email. I am only keeping very specific things at Hotmail/Outlook and Gmail and really have moved 98 percent of the stuff I had going to AOL/Yahoo off. But companies don't make it easy sometimes. Some companies are great about letting you change your email address. They verify who you are and then verify your new email. Other companies are just terrible make it difficult and arduous so instead of still getting there emails I just unsubscribe if I really want it then I subscribe like I am new, but that has been very few. I just unsubscribe.
I am also thinking of moving away from WordPress and going to Ghost. It all depends on when I have to renew by InMotion Hosting shared plan next year. If it stays at the price they already have there it will not happen. I am probably little strain on their resources (maybe an argument can be made for email for my mom, dad and myself, but that is a hard one to make in the overall scheme of things). I will ask them if they can offer a better price as I have been with them for for over 10 years. But if they don't I will be gone. I am also going to try and update the WordPress theme shortly. I am hoping that goes well.
Well this has been a long one if anybody has any thoughts on WordPress versus Ghost let me know.
Thanksgiving 2023
Happy Thanksgiving 2023. I hope everyone gets stuffed.
I was thinking what I am Thankful this year for. Well, my salvation, my Lord, my family and getting up every morning and having a job that pays me for my work. Other than that not much. 2023 has not been a very cheerful year for me. My family and me have had continued health problems and a little bit of money problems this year (mainly due to inflation). Other than that I am looking forward to this year being over. I am not looking forward to one thing next year and that is Politics both people that will be running for President are just too old as well as most members of Congress and the rest are just there for themselves.
Not all has been bad this year. I have found a few good things about this year in addition to what I talked about being thankful already. So, I look forward to saying good bye to 2023.
Nothing much going on
Like the title says nothing much is going on right now. I did cook my dad his favorite for him an early Father's Day gift. Other than that it has been working, home rinse, and repeat.
Update on the car the right front wheel bearing was the issue. The car has been solid and working great since then. Now I am going to get my yearly detail and thinking strongly about getting window tint. That should be standard in Florida.
I am going on Monday to get some new glasses made at Costco. The other place, a family shop, closed down after the whole family retired. They had no one that wanted to take over the business.
Other than that everything is moving along. I will be taking some time off in July the first week. That will be nice. Take care everyone and be safe.
Easter: Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Easter is a time of great celebration for Christians all over the world. It marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God, after he was crucified on the cross for the sins of humanity. This event is the cornerstone of the Christian faith and is seen as a symbol of hope, love, and redemption.

The Bible teaches that Jesus was crucified on the cross, buried, and then rose again three days later. This event is recorded in the New Testament in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. In Matthew 28:6, it says, “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” The resurrection of Jesus was a physical, tangible event, and his disciples saw him alive after his death on the cross. This event is the foundation of the Christian faith and is seen as proof that Jesus was who he claimed to be — the Son of God.
The resurrection of Jesus has far-reaching implications for believers today. First, it provides hope and assurance that death is not the end. Through his resurrection, Jesus defeated death and offers eternal life to all who believe in him. In John 11:25-26, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” This verse provides hope and assurance that death is not the end and that believers will have eternal life with God.
God loved humanity so much that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus took the punishment for our sins and made a way for us to be reconciled to God. In Romans 5:8, it says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This verse reminds us that God’s love is unconditional and that he loves us despite our flaws and mistakes.
Finally, the resurrection of Jesus provides a foundation for our faith. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus shows us that God has a plan and purpose for our lives. He offers us the hope and assurance that, no matter what we face in this life, we can trust in God’s sovereignty and love. In Colossians 2:13-15, it says, “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” This verse reminds us that, through Jesus' death and resurrection, we have been forgiven and made alive in Christ.
Easter is a time of great celebration and a reminder of the significance of Jesus' death and resurrection. It provides hope, love, and a foundation for our faith. As we celebrate this holiday, let us remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the hope and assurance that his resurrection brings. Let us embrace his love and make him the cornerstone of our lives. #Easter #Resurrection #SacrificeOfJesus #Christian #Hope #Love #FoundationForFaith

ChatGPT
I asked ChatGPT to compose a poem comparing the lives of Jesus Christ and Alexander the Great. This is what it wrote:
Jesus and Alexander, two great names, Whose lives and legacies forever remain. One a king of men, the other King of Kings, Both with armies and power at their wings.
Alexander conquered lands far and wide, His empire stretching from side to side. But Jesus, a different kind of king, His kingdom not of this world, but within.
Alexander, a hero of war and might, His conquests, a source of great delight. But Jesus, a hero of love and grace, His sacrifice, the human race to embrace.
Alexander's legacy is one of fame, His conquests, a source of great acclaim. But Jesus' legacy is one of love, A gift to us from the heavens above.
In death, Alexander's empire fell, But Jesus' message, forever will dwell. For while Alexander's reign was temporal, Jesus' reign eternal, forever immortal.
This is quite Similar to Charles Ross Weede poem The Conquerors. Both are quite good and ChatGPT is quite interesting to use. I spent about 1 hour with it tonight.
Mitchelltribe.social Mastondon Server
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know besides Twitter I am on Mastodon in two places. I am on Mastodon Pixelfed that is supposed to be an Instagram replacement. I haven't started to use that yet as I am still trying to figure that out. My main account is on mitchelltribe.social. I watched a YouTube video on how to create your own server.
I made my own server as the main mastodon.social was not accepting any new accounts. Pixelfed doesn't do text yet so I decided to make my own so it aligns with the family website. It is not open to everyone. It is mainly for my family if they should chose to get on Mastodon and I may open it up to a few friends or extended family if any show interest.
I have to keep it small because I am paying for it but at least I own it. So with that in mind I am at
@michael@mitchelltribe.social
@mlm361@pixelfed.social (Instagram replacement)
@mlm361 on Twitter
Of course my website is is at [www.mitchelltribe.com](https://www.mitchelltribe.com) (but it only has a landing page).
Merry Christmas 2022
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Remember this is the season we celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and has a great time.
Christmas and the end of the year fast approaching
Christmas 2023 is fast approaching and so is the end of 2022. 2022 has been a mixed bag for me. This year for some reason has just felt weird. I am not sure why and really can't put my finger on it. Some of the year felt like it was moving a glacier speed and some felt like it was moving at warp speed.
I am still debating whether to send out Christmas Cards. I need to decide very soon. I have received a few this year. I am leaning to skipping this year and see how next year goes and may resume next year. I will definitely have to decide this week.
In any event I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the Season, JESUS!
Happy Thanksgiving 2022
Happy Thanksgiving 2022 everyone. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving on Thursday and gets like the bird stuffed. I am looking forward to the next few days as I relax and have some time away from work.
Speaking of taking time from work. I am using it to get caught up on car maintenance. I spent 319 dollars today getting an oil change and rear brakes. I also got a recalled fixed. I was expecting them to tell me my tires need replacing. I received some good news and was told my tires are only 50% worn so I am good to go for a little more. The dealer I go to has treated me great so I stick with them. However, I may not be able to with the tires. They were asking way more than I can get them at Costco. So sometime in the first few months of 2023 I will probably get them from Costco.
Take care everyone and have a great Thanksgiving week.
Post Hurricane Ian
Hurricane Ian has come and gone. Being born and raised in Florida this is the worst Hurricane I have experienced and we did not take a direct hit. We lost power for almost 48 hours. This hurricane had the highest winds I have ever experienced and the rain when it fell was immense and intense as the bands rotated around.
I can only imagine what Fort Myers went through. I lived there for a couple of years and can't believe what they endured. Thank you Lord for turning this thing before it got here. If it did it might be years before things would have return to semi-normal.
Hurricane Ian is upon us
Hurricane Ian is upon us. It is a dreary day today with occasional bursts of wind. Work told us we would be closed for the next 2 days. So I had to use my own Paid Time Off but that is ok I have plenty. I expect the weather will get worse later on today once the storm finally either goes north or makes landfall south of us. Luckily, we will not take a direct hit but will still get the effects except the storm surge. We still have power and internet for now. Hope all will come out ok with this storm.
This is the latest:

The State of Things at Large
I have been wanting to type this post for a while. I am just frustrated with how things are right now as in society at large. Inflation and what will likely be a recession next year and where have all the people gone. I know we lost about a million people that died directly or indirectly from the Pandemic but were is everyone else. Eating out right now is not a great option whether it is a fast food place or a causal dining experience. I know a lot of people left those jobs either voluntarily or involuntarily (because of shut downs and such) and went elsewhere. But the elsewheres are also having problems getting people. It just feels like people evaporated. Yet traffic has increased. Everywhere you look it looks like business are needing people but you also feel this uneasy feeling that huge layoffs are coming. I am not sure what is going on.
But to the employees in fast food. I know some of you probably hate the job because it is all you could get or you just don't care. Remember food is something we all like to eat and just imagine if you gave your family some of the food you all are pushing off on people and then people get irate. I know fast food is supposed to be fast and not a 5 star meal but it should be decent where when you bite into you go what in the world is the garbage.
First Hurricane Threat of the season
Well it seems that we have our first hurricane threat of the season. Hopefully we will dodge a bullet but we will have to wait and see.
As far as me, I got my Covid-19 Bivalent booster shot and thought it would explode my heart. I went into A-Fib the first time that has happened in several years. I think I will be skipping any further Covid-19 shots.
I also wanted to say my TV habits have changed with the different streaming services and I think it has gotten better.
Happy 2022
Happy New Year and let’s hope 2022 is better. 2021 was a terrible year for me compared to 2020 believe it or not. Even though 2020 was the start of Pandemic it was a better year for me personally. As far as New Year’s resolutions I don’t do that but would like to read more this year. Well that is it for now. Hope everyone stays safe.
Merry Christmas Eve!
Merry Christmas Eve to everyone!
I hope everyone has a great day and remember the real celebration is tomorrow. It is a birthday celebration of OUR LORD and Savior Jesus. Without him everlasting life would be impossible.
May everyone have a great, Merry and Blessed Christmas tomorrow.
My new computer
Well, it finally happened. I had to get a new computer. My old computer an Alienware Aurora R5 was on it's last leg. It had several problems and I was really worried it was going to give out. Now, I wanted a new computer with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X with a NVIDIA RTX 3080 with all the trimmings. But with the supply issues and the outrageous cost with everything blown out of proportion I decided to get a low end but respectable computer. I ended up with a Levono Legion AMD desktop. It has a Ryzen 7 5700G and an NVIDIA RTX 3060. It is all propriety and I wanted to stay away from it, but the case can actually hold off the shelf components and most all the reviews were positive. So I bit the bullet and had Bestbuy send me one, even though I believe this computer would be about 500 dollars cheaper if this was a couple of years ago. I have to say so far I am impressed and hope it gets me through the next 3 years if not more as I think as I believe it will take that long for prices to come back to normal and supply to return to normal or better.
Shortages Shortages and more shortages
This is the first time in my 52 years alive that I can remember everything and anything you want being on shortage. I am not just talking the latest tech, but yea I haven't been able to buy a new computer as there are shortages of components and the prices are way out of whack. I am talking food shortages and what not. I see on forums people all over the Country saying no shortages here and there. But, I can tell you where I live I see it and the shelves are bare and what you do find you buy it and it turns out that it might be bad. For example a dozen eggs where bought and we cooked half of the dozen for 3 people and we all bit into the eggs and they were off tasting and bad. By the way on that batch it say large eggs and they were almost as small as Whoopers (not kidding should have taken a picture, I joke the USDA inspector must have been off that day). The next batch bought at a different store looked like large eggs and tasted fine.
I have been in Publix quite a few times and seen either completely empty shelves or sparsely populated shelves. I hope this doesn't continued but I fear it is here for other year with or without the pandemic continuing. Which quite frankly I think most people don't care anymore and are acting like it doesn't and I feel that other people feel it is over. While I will say I am fully vaccinated so I am just not worrying about dying. I don't want to catch it but I can't control other people.
Pixel 6 Pro prelimiary review
I got the Google Pixel 6 Pro pre-launch as they were giving away free Pixel Buds and with everything in short supply now days I went ahead and got it. It arrived yesterday. So far, my biggest thing is that I wish Google would figure out a way I can say hi you know how I have the present phone set up on the home screens do the same thing.
I also have the power button screen glitch when the phone is off . Since it doesn't seem to effect my phone otherwise I will wait and see what Google discovers about it or if it causes any problems. I do say the one biggest hardware flaw I see with the phone is the in display fingerprint sensor. It is awful performance. I wished Google would have stuck with the rear fingerprint sensor it was awesome had some hidden features like pulling down the notification area and was just in the right place for your finger.
Haven't tried the the camera's yet so can't say about the quality and will update soon as I do. The screen is gorgeous and the performance seems fluid to me. The build seems balance and very top notch as far as shape and quality of the actual phone.
Well there are my first raw impressions. Will keep everyone updated on the phone as time goes on. Back to personalizing the phone. Please Google improve that experience. Takes too long to setup a new phone. It is like moving everyone hates packing and unpacking.
