Not enough time
I have a head full of ideas but not enough time to accomplish them or the strength. Wishing everyone a great Labor Day.
Weathermen
I think weathermen need to stop relying on computers so much. They have no idea what Dorian is going to do except the next few hours.
Labor Day 2019
Labor Day weekend 2019 is off to a good start. Got my oil change on my car and got most of my electronics updated and charged. Hurricane Dorian is going to miss us and I won’t have to use extra vacation time next week. I am in season 6 out of 9 of the Walton’s.
The only bad news is I have had a sinus headache for 2 days.
Happening Now
Happening now, stress and tension. Just when I thought everything was going great. The economy wants to tank. I am planning to be debt-free in just six more years if the economy holds it together.
On a happier note, I finished The Durrell’s of Corfu and loved it. I am still watching The Waltons and loving that series. I just started 6 season and sorry to see Richard Thomas gone on the show.
PC Gaming is becoming my favorite thing to do. I have a few games I love playing right now. A few more I want to become better in.
One last thing computer wise. Glad I have not switched back to Frontier as the lost service again and this time it has been like for a day and a half. Spectrum has been great and that has really surprised me. If they would only raise the upload speed.
Want to visit Corfu
I really would like to visit Corfu Greece. I think I am going to start a Visit Corfu Savings Fund should be full in about 10 years 😀.
Just thinking
Lately, I have been just thinking about moving out of the City the more and more I watch the Waltons. High-Speed internet for rural America, PLEASE!
Old TV Shows
I find myself watching more old TV shows lately. I have recently started to watch The Waltons. I remember them when I was growing up, but it was not the main show. I have really enjoyed watching Season 1 on Amazon Prime. I have been enjoying watching old shows on Over the Air TV shows like All in the Family and Frasier. Sometimes I think that the old shows are better than most TV shows they come out with today and when I do get invested in one of the new shows the cancel it.
Cloud Computing
have been thinking a lot lately about how everything is or wants to go to the cloud. I think the only thing that should be in the cloud for sure is back up. Otherwise, I prefer to have everything locally. I know that companies are pushing us to the cloud/remote storage for subscription fees and never-ending revenue for them. The internet situation in this Country is not very good. I am lucky to live in an area that has broadband (although both the companies that can service us are not the greatest). I could also settle with music in the cloud and streaming it (as this is not bandwidth intensive).
Watching the Microsoft E3 Xbox Presentation today, I did realize something that might be worth thinking about in the future. With as powerful as the next generation Xbox will be next year on its release and keyboard and mouse support added (not a big controller fan). People can own a cheap to moderately priced PC/Laptop and the next-gen Xbox and come out cheaper than having a full-blown gaming PC. I am seriously considering this in the future. The only thing that would keep me from doing that at this time is I am heavily invested in the Steam store/eco-system and modestly invested in the Epic store and EA Origin platform. Plus all the games I have on disk. If there was a way to bring them over at no charge I will become fully invested this way. I would love just having a nice laptop and the Xbox (with mouse and keyboard) for my gaming system.
In the above scenario, I still would like to have local storage. That way I am not dependent on internet access. I would like to get out of the city/suburban area and go to a rural area if fiber was ubiquitous. Well, just me thinking out loud. What do you think?
End of April
April is coming to a close and this has been one of the better ones for me. I turned 50 and they had a surprise party for me at work. The only thing that has not changed and makes me sad is my finances. Gratefully, I only have 3 more years until this new car is paid off and my money problems should be behind me.
Well, hope everyone is doing great. April went by fast. I am hoping May and June does too.
April 2019
April is my favorite month, but for the last few years it has been my worst as far as life itself. I have been sick the last few April’s in the beginning. Just want this year to be better and so far it is ok as I am not sick. I used to be able to take the whole month off and would. For the last 10 years that has not happened 😩.
I also need a haircut going to try and go get one tomorrow.
Cloud Computing and Cloud Platforms
I watched Google Stadia announcement today. I think this is a great idea but it suffers from one major drawback. Internet connections. A lot of people do not have high-speed internet and it is getting worse. If you do have high-speed internet, some people have data caps (which is ridiculous for a broadband connection or really any connection). The third and final issue is reliability. No matter what your ISP/Broadband connection is going to go down from something at some time.
For the first two items, I think Google, Apple, Amazon, Disney, CBS, Netflix, and Microsoft should make a separate entity sort of Hulu like for wired fiber. Wired fiber is the best option in the long run low maintenance cost and will last decades. Or they could split up grants like the various City, County, State, and Federal Government agencies do to expand broadband from electric coops and telephone coops. All I know unless broadband expands to all corners of this Country these services are not going to work.
I know that in Paris, Tennessee and Inverness, FL where I have property since they are rural there is no Broadband available. Satellite is not a viable option for gaming. Which brings us to the third item I like having everything local and back up to the cloud. The gaming and movie watching I can live within the cloud but it has to be RELIABLE 99% and there needs to be a way to have a local copy just in case the 1% happens.
Just my two cents.
2018 Tax Return
Don’t know what all the fuss is about. I got back about 150 dollars less than less year, but have made more than that with the small increase in bi-weekly pay check. Taxes are taxes. I probably should make sure I zero out each year, but I use it as an emergency fund.
I have also been sick. Sickest I have been since 2017. I am finally on the mend. On another note this is my 10th year at Moffitt. 10 years. Second longest job. First job still longest for career.
2019 off to dud
Hello All,
I am trying to blog more, but I just don’t have it in me lately. I have been so tired. I think it is my medication for my heart. There is nothing I can do though. I want to learn WordPress to update and move my website to that. I am also trying to get a loyalty discount from my webhost. I mainly use it for the email anyways.
Well, tonight is the is the Superbowl and frankly I just don’t care. I am not a football fan. Take care all. Hope everyone is doing great.
Happy New Year! 2019
Bye 2018 you were not that great. I lost my best friend Bella (my cat). Hopefully, 2019 will be better all around. This is will be my 50th year on this Earth and my 10th year at Moffitt. Hoping and Praying everyone else 2019 is 2 steps forward and no steps back. Cheers!
One of the few last post for 2018. This year has been a mixed bag of good and bad. I am hoping that 2019 will be better. On the financial front it is still a mixed bag too. Once my car is paid off I will be in a much better position. Cautiously looking forward to 2019 and what it will bring.
Merry Christmas!
Bella, my cat
Bella, my cat was hit by a car this morning sometime around 5AM to 6AM. She died instantly. I will miss her so much and already miss her. I remember the day she just showed up to our house. She picked me to love like she did. I loved her so much. She had 2 litters of kittens while she was here. I got Katie out of the second litter and she was my favorite like her mother and they both did not want to stay in the house and yard. Both were taken by cars from me. I think I am done having animals.
Trooper my very first dog I had to give away because of my first job.
Henry my second dog died of old age after having glaucoma and food allergies, but it was old age that got him.
Taco my third dog died of seizures that started all of the sudden one day. I got him from my sister who someone rescued from abuse. He loved me and me him just like Henry.
Then Katie by a car out on a busy street, now Bella. I don’t think I can take much more heart break.
I will miss you Bella you loved me for 5 years and gave me a lot of memories. I hope you know that I loved you so much.
What is going on with Corporations
Well, this is going to be a rant. First Ford is dropping sedans, which the Fusion, the one car I love and have bought new in the last couple of years will stop being made in 2019. Admittedly I would have had to buy a new car anyways since my last car died. I didn’t have to go with Ford, I went with Ford because they are a long time USA company and the Fusion is awesome. I see plenty on the road how can they say they don’t sell enough.
Now, Amazon raising prices on Amazon Prime from $99 to $119. I already let one price increase go and didn’t say anything. At $119 not worth it will not be renewing. Companies are going to be shooting themselves in the foot. I just might have to get rid of my Alexa’s and go with Google Home!
End of Rant!!!!
Just nothing New
Nothing new going on. Did binge watch "The Gifted" TV first season and loved it. Glad that it got renewed. Watching the new Star Trek Series Discovery. So far so good.
